主人公の少年、小早川祈も『ギフト』の発現によってこの杜ノ宮学園に招かれた一人。
彼に発現した特徴とは、
『自らが決めたひとつのことを除いて、新しい記憶を持ち越せない』
という奇怪なものだった。
「キミは全てを忘れるわけではない。たったひとつのことは覚えておける」
「そのたったひとつを見つけることが、唯一、キミがこの学園で成し遂げるべきことなのだろうとボクは想像するね」
と誰からもらった言葉だったか、それだけが唯一の道しるべ。
悩みながら、生涯の『枷』……孤独を胸に隠しながら、閉じた学園で静かな日々を送る主人公。
そんな彼の前に現れた一人の編入生、御厨恋。
彼女は「何も諦めたくない。この場所で青春の喜びを経験したい」と笑う。
そして「自分はもうすぐ死んでしまうから」……と。
これは運命の意味を問う物語。
神は確かにそこに存在し、それを少年達に問いかけ続ける――
