You run a medieval tavern day to day — buy supplies, work the evening service, pay the rent — while Elena lives in the simulation alongside you, with her own willingness, moods and opinions about the people who drink there. There is no branching script to unlock.Do I need to download anything?No. Wayward runs in any modern browser, on desktop or mobile. Saves are stored on your device and can be exported to a file if you want a backup.How much does it cost?Nothing. There are no accounts, no ads and no microtransactions.Is every playthrough the same?No. Elena is rolled fresh each new game — visible traits, hidden ones that only surface through play, and her own preferences per act. Two playthroughs differ because she was generated differently, not because there are authored branches.Where does the art come from?The art is generated ahead of time with Illustrious models. 42,000+ images ship with the build, so her portrait follows what she is wearing, where she is, what she is doing and how she feels. With that many, you will hit some that are flat out wrong or just bad — I pull the ones I catch, but reviewing every image by hand is not realistic. I plan to add a way for you to thumb down a bad image so the worst ones surface faster. Every character is fictional and an adult. No real person is depicted in the game or on this site.Is it finished?No, and it will not be for a good while. Wayward is in active development and updated regularly. Expect issues — rough edges, things that do not quite fit together, bugs. It is all in progress, and it is worth going in expecting that rather than a finished game. The engine was built to take on new characters, patrons, locations and acts without a rewrite, so updates add to the simulation rather than replacing it.Is there a lot of grind?Not in my opinion. The systems move on their own, and if something in the interface is available you can do it. What does take time is the people — they change as you play, so the longer a save runs the more you will see shift in them. That is the game working rather than a wall.A character did something that was not like them. Is that intended?Usually not — that is a balance problem rather than a plot twist. Everyone acts on their own wants and thresholds, so a value that is slightly out can push someone into behaving out of character. Balance is the hardest part of building it this way, and it is the thing I most want to hear about. Tell me what happened and what you expected instead.Going inTwo things worth knowing.It is in progress. Expect issues — rough edges, things that do not quite fit together, bugs.
