The story follows a man who has spent most of his adult life rebuilding himself after repeated personal and emotional collapses. Some were caused by his own mistakes; others came from relationships ending in disaster. Each time he rebuilt, he tried to create a life that was more stable, more deliberate, and less vulnerable than the one before. Eventually, he believed he had finally found the life and love that would endure.That illusion is shattered when a catastrophic earthquake devastates where he and the woman he loves live.
