Right now you can only play in what is called a "hot seat" mode which is an old term when people could play one game together and they would take turns by switching seats with each other, hence the name "hot seat". I'm planning to implement true single player experience but also a peer-to-peer mode which is an online mode but as far as I understand it's for people who the player trusts, not just random people on the internet.
