That being said, I did try to include all the original assets of the game and stay somewhat true to most scenes.Why did you make this?It started off just for a few scenes I wanted to re-watch without the Unity hassle, but expanded until I finally just said fuck it, how hard can it possibly be to port it over? 6 months later and I'm finally ready to post version 1.Are you going to make new content?Yes and also no. I plan to try and keep this game up to date with the Unity version as best I can. I might even expand some scene options (both existing and new) as I've done already. But I’m not planning on making new sequences that aren’t in the original game. I'm not an artist, pretty much all of what is there is just edited existing art, some of which I think looks okay, some of which is crap.Why is there no uncompressed version?The uncompressed version of the game is 7.6GB mostly due to the movie files (the original game is only around 3.5GB of image assets, but it animates its movies instead of pre-rendering them as I had to do with renpy). Compressing just the movies still puts it at 4GB which is huge. So, simply put, that file size is just too big and the visual difference is very hard to see for so much extra space.If there is high demand for it, I might put out a separate "HD" image packs.Why are there bugs and typos!It's a big game, I did my best to test as much as I could but I can only do so much.If you found an issue post it in the thread and I'll try and fix it in the next version. If it’s major, I might do a patch for it.Some of the strange text is there because of how I got the text in the first place. I built an OCR (optical capture and recognition) script to pull the dialogue out of the game. I did this for about half the game and even then it only worked for maybe 80% of that. So lots I’ve had to hand type or correct from the capture. At 250k+ lines of dialogue there is just too much to find it all on my own.Why do some animations look jank?This whole thing was a learning process for me, and one of the biggest issues I faced early on was how to do the animations. In the original game, they are done with Live2D, something I can't use in renpy. So, when I started, I tried lots of different things to "acquire" the animations. They aren't files in Unity so much as parts assembled by code, texture, animation text and Live2D API. I tried re-constructing them lots of different ways, doing them as stills, then renpy ATLs. I even tried to make a Unity game using the Live2D API and all the files, but I couldn't get it to work either (and its documentation was all in Japanese). In the end, nothing I tired looked right.I had wasted a LOT of time trying to figure out how to get the animations to work, with no success. I was pretty close to abandoning this project. The animations were a fundamental part of this game, if I couldn't get them to work, this whole thing wouldn't be worth doing.Then, I had a brilliant idea one day, if I couldn't remake them, why not screen capture them! Behold, the power of windows+G! And BAM I was able to grab all the animations! Except, fuck, they have text and icons burned in at the bottom. Well, close enough, I was able to get them...So, for most of the project life, I spent a LOT of time hand editing out the text and icons. In some cases, a simple mask worked, in others, I went frame by frame. It was very time consuming and some animations I just said fuck it and put in a simple blur to cover stuff. I would say more than half the animations looked... badddd.Then, as I was almost at release I figured out a way to remove dialogue and icons from the screen entirely (using dnSpy and modifying the game code). Now I could clean capture stuff. The problem was, I had done nearly all of the 450+ videos by that point, so, with a fucking heavy sigh, I went back and fixed the worst of them. Some still slipped through as good enough, but I did recapture most of them.If you spot a particularly bad one, let me know and I might go back and fix it in a future update.Why aren't the character animatedToo much effort for too little payoff. Instead of trying to animate them in their puppet poses, I decided to add more pose options, such as new outfits, hand positions and stuff like that.Can I miss content?I've tried to include every scene from the original, no matter how small. While I think I got mostly everything, the Unity game is a bit of a mess, so it’s possible I missed something. There are some dialogues I didn't include (such as characters telling you "not now" when you're not on their quest). But I tried to get most of the game.While some scenes do have choices in them there are no "paths" for the game. Only one scene has any major differences based on past actions. All other scenes mostly have choices on how you want the scene to play out, so just save or roll back to see other options in that scene.Why are there so many skip buttons?!You can turn these off from preferences by selecting AutoMenu-Half. They are there mostly to let people skip content they don't want to see. Skipping has no story impact.MindBlowers dialogue impacted by the game?Yeah, so, I couldn’t work this one out (I wasn’t willing to spend the time). Most scenes have small references to your past actions but these are based on your currently loaded game. If you’re in a Mindblower, they will use what you’ve done to “replay”. If you launch one right from the main menu, they will use the defaults.WTF is AutoMenu?Some players like to play *cough* hands free and would rather not be interrupted every few lines by another fucking menu. While this game is fairly light on menus, it does have more than a few. AutoMenu lets you pick the style you want, and the choices select for you. It isn't perfect, but it's good enough.I hate the changes you made!Not a question... but okay, I don't care? It's free, don't play it, or go back to original.Will you make an unaltered port?Nope.
