The storytelling and portraits are powered by large language and image models, but the game is deliberately provider-neutral: it talks to LLMs through the standard openai SDK and lets you point it at OpenRouter, a local Ollama instance, or OpenAI directly, with separate role bindings for the chat model and the image model. Image generation runs against a local ComfyUI endpoint with tuned presets for SD1.5, SDXL, FLUX, Chroma, and Z-Image, so you choose the trade-off between speed, VRAM, and quality. For heavier local models you can even rent a GPU on demand through the built-in Vast.ai integration, which provisions, routes to, and reaps a cloud instance for you.
