Developer Notes:
Some videos longer than one minute cannot be skipped.
Even if the player fast-forwards through the dialogue box, the system still waits for the video to finish playing; consequently,
saving or loading the game is disabled while the video is running. Functionality returns to normal once the video ends.
Manually clicking to advance the dialogue box works fine, however.
The root cause of this "stuck" issue is that traditional visual novel engines cannot synchronize video playback with the dialogue system.
Historically, visual novels did not require video-to-subtitle synchronization.
While I implemented a "skip" function for long videos with pre-rendered subtitles, videos exceeding one minute rely on the dialogue system for processing.
This means that the AUTO/SKIP functions are forced to wait for the video to finish if they encounter a non-skippable segment.
Visual novel engines typically only handle dialogue timing; allowing a skip over a "non-skippable video" would break that timing synchronization.
To fully resolve this, I would need to learn Unity and build my own visual novel engine capable of synchronizing video with subtitles...
